What is bentonite?

BENTONITE:

  • Bentonite is an absorbent aluminium phyllosilicate clay consisting mostly of montmorillonite. Sodium type of bentonite is considered as a higher quality product.


KEY PROPERTIES:

  • Swelling capacity (ability to absorb water);

  • Adsorption properties (ability to absorb substance from liquid);

  • Colloidal properties (ability of bentonite to be suspended throughout another substance).
    These properties make it a valuable material for a wide range of applications.
